Descripción: A total of 5 type of Pakistani medicinal plants, traditionally used in medicines were subjected to preliminary antibacterial screening against several pathogenic isolated from urinary tract infections and opportunistic microorganisms. Aqueous extracts of each plant were tested for their antibacterial activity using agar well diffusion method. A number of modifications have been made in the technique in order to obtain better results. Since some factors (culture medium composition, microorganisms tested, extraction method, pH, solubility of the sample in the culture medium, etc.) can change results, it is difficult using these methods to standardize a procedure for the study of antimicrobial plants. The results indicated that out of five plants, four exhibited excellent antibacterial activity against test pathogens. Interestingly, extracts of one plant showed less spectrum activity as compared to rest of four plant extracts. All of these plants are well known for their medicinal value and widely used in the community for treatment of various diseases. These plants are used in the same form as they have maximum potential to treat the disease
