Descripción: Alkaliphiles  are a class of extremophilic microbes capable of survival in alkaline (pH roughly 8.5-11) environments, growing optimally around a pH of 10. More than 100 alkalotolarent  bacteria were isolated from water sample of mula-mutha river. Majority of the isolates were gram positive, motile rods except a cocci and actinomycetes that was strict alkalophile and could grow at pH 11 only. Morphological and Biochemical characterisation of the isolates  indicated that most of the isolates were Bacillus spp.
