Descripción: The purpose of this study was to prediction of Bone Mineral Density (BMD) in volleyball players via anthropometric variables.Method: Twenty five volleyball players (height 189.73 ±1.7cm, weight 79.76 ± 7.15kg; mean ± SD), were participated in this study. 19-25 years old. Subjects were performed regularly at least 5 days training per week, at least 5 years playing experience and participated at the highest national league matches. The anthropometric variables were included: body weight, height, sitting height, arm span, thigh length, tibial length and femur breadth. BMD of lumbar spines (L2-L4) and the neck of femur were assessed by Dual Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry (DEXA, Norland Excell). Results: There were significant correlations between weight, Sitting height, Arm span, Thigh length, Tibial length and Femur breadth with BMD at lumbar bones and also between weight, Height, Sitting height, Thigh length, Tibial length and Femur breadth with BMD at Neck of femur in volleyball players. From all Anthropometric variables, the Tibial length, Sitting Height and Body weight were predicted BMD at Lumbar bones (L2-L4) and Femur breadth, Sitting Height, Thigh length and Body weight were predicted the BMD at Lumbar bones in the volleyball players, respectivelyConclusion: This study concludes that anthropometric variables, such as weight, height, Sitting height, arm span, thigh length and tibial length and femur breadth seem to be significant predictors of bone mineral density at lumbar spines and femoral neck in male volleyball players.
