Islamisation of Knowledge; Knowledge; Muslim Ummah; Knowledge in Muslim Ummah
Descripción: Since the last decade, several attempts have been made in the cause of translating the Islamisation of knowledge. Among these who were in the forefront in the effort are two major scholars, namely, Syed Muhammad Naquib al- Attas and Isma’il Raji al-Faruqi. AL- Faruqi established the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT) in Virginia in 1981, and Al-Attas established Internal Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilization (ISTAC) in Kaula Lampur in 1987. Both of them have a significant number of followers which have expanded their effort. Most of the scholars have a general notion that Islamisation can bring the Muslims out of their dark periods, which they consider have hovered on them because of deviation from Islam. Muslim scholars also opine to rationalize their disciplines by introducing new techniques and methods which may help them to overcome the dark ages. This work strives to understand how Islamisation of Knowledge can overcome the present crisis of knowledge in the Muslim world.
