Descripción: Throughout 2006-2009 Elders, Aboriginal resource people, and Aboriginal scholars shared their insights about the learning spirit with the Aboriginal Learning Knowledge Centre’s (ABLKC) Nourishing the Learning Spirit Animation Theme Bundle, led by M'ikmaw education scholar Dr. Marie Battiste. The ABLKC was a three-year project with an applied research, knowledge exchange, and monitoring and reporting mandate concerning promising practices in Aboriginal lifelong learning. In this paper former research assistants for the ABLKC discuss their application of knowledge generated on the learning spirit to their post-secondary classroom practice. They argue that teachers are able to nourish the learning spirit of students when they understand themselves as lifelong learners, validate and learn from their students, and utilize holistic teaching pedagogies. In addition, these principles and practices can enhance student academic performance.
