Descripción: Cette étude, effectuée auprès de professeurs universitaires francophones, examine les qualités psychométriques d’un questionnaire en français sur le stress (Fimian, 1984), les stratégies d’adaptation au stress (Carver, 1997), le locus de contrôle (Spector, 1988) et l’épuisement professionnel (Maslach, Jackson & Leiter, 1996). Les qualités psychométriques de chacun des tests sont déterminées à partir de modélisations par équations structurales. Nous déterminons si les professeurs universitaires francophones sont stressés et épuisés, quelles en sont les principales sources et quelles sont les principales stratégies d’adaptation, par âge et par sexe. A French-language questionnaire on stress (“Teacher Stress Inventory,” Fimian, 1984), coping strategies (“Brief Cope,” Carver, 1997), locus of control (“Work Locus of Control Scale,” Spector, 1988), and burnout (“Maslach Burnout Inventory,” Maslach, Jackson, & Leiter, 1996) was given to a sample of francophone university professors. The differential functioning of each of the four scales was done with structural equation models. Stress and burnout, as well as sources of stress and main coping strategies, by age and sex were determined. Two conclusions were reached: there is a direct link between stress and emotions; and francophone university professors are no more stressed or burnt out than other professionals.
