Descripción: Proveniente del Salmo 147, la frase que encabeza este artículo es una leyenda adoptada en México y aplicada a la aparición de la Virgen de Guadalupe por el Papa Benedicto XIV y pronunciada por éste por primera vez en el año 1758. Cuatro años antes se creó el oficio Propio de la Virgen de Guadalupe cuya festividad se lleva a cabo cada 12 de diciembre. La Oración para la Misa y el oficio fue compuesto por el mismo Papa Benedicto XIV. Estamos en el siglo XVIII. En 1709 se terminó la construcción de la Antigua Basílica de Guadalupe, hoy templo expiatorio, levantada sobre el anterior Santuario. En 1749 obtuvo la categoría de Colegiata y en 1750 entró en funciones el primer Cabildo Guadalupano. El presente trabajo se aproxima a su Capilla musical, y a los fondos documentales más representativos de su rico archivo.
Coming from the psalm 147, the sentence opening this paper is a legend, adopted in Mexico, and applied to the appearance of the Virgen de Guadalupe by pope Benedictus XIV, who pronounced it for a first time in 1758. Four years later was created the own Office of the Virgen de Guadalupe. Its festivity is celebrated every Decembre the 12th. The praying for the Mass and the Office was composed by pope Benedictus XIV himself. We are in the 18th century. In 1709, the building of the old Basílica de Guadalupe was finished (being today an expiatory church), constructed over the earlier sanctuary. In 1749 was promoted to the higher category of collegiate church and in 1750 the first Guadalupe’s ecclesiastical chapter began to work. Present contribution deals with its musical chapel and speaks about the more representative documentary resources in its very rich archive.
