En este artículo se proporciona una perspectiva queer sobre la intersexualidad, teniendo las ideas de Judith Butler como fondo siempre presente para leer a otras tres autoras fundamentales en el estudio de la intersexualidad: Anne Fausto-Sterling, Suzanne Kessler y Alice Dreger. Estas tres autoras realizan interesantes estudios sobre la intersexualidad desde diferentes perspectivas: desde la biología, desde la psicología y desde la historia. Las tres se esfuerzan por cambiar los tratamientos médicos y sociales que sufren personas nacidas con cuerpos que desafían las normas de género, sexo y sexualidad, para flexibilizar la categoría de lo humano y abrirla fuera del binarismo de sexo, pudiendo así dar cabida a los cuerpos considerados como ambiguos que no pueden (y que, en ocasiones, no quieren) encuadrarse en el sistema binario. This paper gives a queer feminist perspective about intersexuality, with Judith Butler’s theories as background to read another three feminist important authors in the study of intersexuality: Anne Fausto-Sterling, Suzanne Kessler and Alice Dreger. These three authors have done very interesting studies about intersexuality from different perspectives: from biology, from psychology and from history. The three of them make efforts to change the medical and social treatment that people who are born with bodies that defy the norms of gender, sex, and sexuality suffer, in order to work to loosen the definition of «human», to develop this definition outside of the sex binarism, and being able to hold bodies that today are considered as ambiguous and that cannot (and sometimes don’t want to) frame themselves on the binarian system of gender and sex. |
