El inusitado crecimiento de la inmigración en los últimos años ha transformado en buena medida la escuela española, incrementando su carácter multicultural, acentuando algunas diferencias entre la red pública y la privada o concertada, obligando a transformaciones notables para adaptar la escuela a la nueva realidad y sus necesidades. El artículo aborda los ritmos de llegada, la distribución territorial del nuevo alumnado y su tendencia a la concentración en la escuela pública, pero también analiza cuestiones de gran influencia en el ámbito educativo como el insuficiente conocimiento de nuestra(s) lengua(s), las diferencias religiosas, la concentración excesiva en algunos centros concretos o la necesidad de un esfuerzo económico suplementario. The unusual growth in immigration in the latest years has transformed the Spanish school to a large extent. It has increased its multicultural nature and emphasized some differences between the state and private network. It has caused the school to make notable changes to adapt itself to the new reality and needs. The article deals with the rhythm of arrival, the territorial distribution of the new students and their tendency to concentrate on state schools. But it also analyses questions of great influence on the educational field, such as the poor knowledge of our language (languages), religious differences, the excessive concentration on some educational establishments or the need to make an additional economic effort.
