La interrelación entre el entorno, la estrategia y la estructura se constituye como un tema fundamental en el estudio de las organizaciones que ha sido abordado bajo diferentes vertientes desde hace ya algunas décadas, sin que ello suponga un agotamiento en este campo de estudio. Ciertamente, los trabajos realizados al respecto ponen de manifiesto la conveniencia de continuar investigando en esta materia para actualizar y avanzar en el conocimiento que se tiene sobre ella, al mismo tiempo que evolucionan las empresas y su entorno. Por ello, el propósito de este trabajo es realizar una revisión de los estudios teóricos y empíricos más relevantes, tratando de aunar las aportaciones realizadas tanto sobre las relaciones estrategia-estructura como entre éstas y el entorno, hasta desembocar en lo que se conoce como configuración organizativa, concepto con el que se designa la congruencia que debe existir en toda organización entre sus diferentes componentes, y en la que pensamos que puede residir la clave del éxito organizativo. The interrelationship between environment, strategy and structure is a fundamental subject in the study of organizations that has been tackled under different ways for some decades, without it supposes an exhaustion in this field of study. Certainly, the research papers on this subject show the convenience of continuing investigating to update and to advance in the knowledge about it, at the same time that firms and their environments evolve. For that reason, the purpose of this study is to make a revision of more excellent theoretical and empirical studies, trying to combine the contributions made on the strategy-structure relationships and between these and environment. Finally, we comment on which it is known as organizational configuration. This concept makes reference to the congruency that must exist between the different components of an organization, and we think that the key of the organizational success can find in it. |
