Descripción: La investigación tuvo como objetivo evaluar el uso de las Tecnologías de Información y Comunicación para la enseñanza en la educación media, diversificada y profesional, en la U. E. Colegio “Pío XII” y la U. E. N. “Mariscal Antonio José de Sucre”. Se centró en el desarrollo de una investigación de campo, tipo descriptiva, dirigido a una población de 104 docentes, con una muestra de 48 individuos. Para la recolección de datos se utilizó la encuesta, conformada por 25 ítems dividida en dos partes, los primeros 10 con respuestas de tipo dicotómico y los 15 restantes tipo escala de Likert. La validez se determinó a través del juicio de expertos y la confiabilidad se calculó en su primera parte mediante Kuder Richardson (rtt) obteniéndose como valor 0.83, considerándose muy altamente confiable y la segunda parte mediante el coeficiente Alpha Cronbach (), arrojando un valor de 0.78, considerándose altamente confiable. El análisis de los resultados se realizó en el software Excel, donde se efectuó el vaciado de la información en una matriz de doble entrada y se examinó cada una de las dimensiones de estudio. De los resultados obtenidos se concluyó que los docentes tienen conocimientos de algunas herramientas tecnológicas (correo electrónico, el chat, el foro, páginas Web, software educativo y el portal), mientras que desconocen otras (webQuest, las Wiki y las Listas de distribución). Además se constató que no son utilizadas en la enseñanza de los contenidos, evaluación, búsqueda de información para su planificación, o para propiciar el debate.

The main purpose of this research was to assess the use of the Information and Communication Technologies for the teaching within middle education at the U.E. “Pío XII” and the U.E.N. “Mariscal Antonio José de Sucre” high schools. It was focused on a field descriptive research, headed for a population of 104 teachers, with a 48 individuals' sample. A survey was applied in order to collect the data. It was composed of 25 items distributed into two parts; the first 10 items with dichotomy answers type and the other 15 items with Likert's scale type. The validity was determined through experts' judgment and the reliability was calculated through Kuder Richardson (rtt) getting 0,83 as a value, being considered a very highly reliable value; and the second part through the Alpha Cronbach (á), throwing an 0,78 value, considering it highly reliable. The analysis of the results was performed within the Excel software, where an informational downloading was done within a double input matrix and each one of the research dimensions was examined. From the obtained results, it was inferred that middle education teachers have some kind of knowledge about a few technological tools (e-mail, chat, forum, Web pages, educational software and the Portal ), whereas they ignore others (WebQuest, the Wiki and the distribution lists). Moreover, it was verified that the tools aren't used in the teaching of contents, assessment, search of information for their planning, or to promote the debate.
