Descripción: Las tecnologías de la información y la comunicación vienen incidiendo de forma intensa en el campo educativo y, por otra parte, la enseñanza de la Geografía plantea la necesidad de incorporar nuevas estrategias para que el estudiante pueda captar la complejidad del entorno, es por ello, que la tecnología educativa se convierte en un gran apoyo para lograr tal propósito. La presente investigación se planteó el diseño de un software educativo para un curso de Geografía Universal, bajo la modalidad de proyecto factible. La población estuvo conformada por 28 participantes de la Universidad Simón Rodríguez, quienes observaron y evaluaron el recurso. Un análisis estadístico, de los datos arrojó resultados favorables con respecto a las características técnicas y educativas del software. Entre las conclusiones del estudio resalta que la tecnología educativa ofrece muchas oportunidades para desarrollar recursos de enseñanza, pero no puede ser considerada como la solución a todos los problemas educativos, es necesario que el facilitador tenga profundos conocimientos del tema y de los procesos de aprendizaje, para la selección o diseño de los medios y se recomienda el uso de la tecnología con el objeto de crear ambientes para interactuar, transportar y difundir el conocimiento con mayor facilidad.

Information and communication technologies come impacting in an intense way in the educational field and, on the other hand, the teaching of the Geography outlines the necessity to incorporate new strategies so that students can capture the complexity of the environment, this is how the educational technology becomes a great support to achieve such a purpose. This research thought about the design of educational software for a universal Geography course, under the modality of feasible project. Population sampling was conforming by 28 participants of the Simón Rodríguez University who observed and evaluated the resource. A statistical analysis, of the data threw favorable results with regard to the technical and educational characteristics of the software. Conclusions stands out that educational technology offers many opportunities to develop teaching resources, but it cannot be considered as the solution to all educational problems. It is necessary that the facilitator has deep knowledge of the topic and learning processes, also the selection or design of means and the use of technology is recommended in order to create atmospheres for interacting, transporting and diffusing knowledge more easiness.
