Descripción: Se caracterizó el comportamiento productivo de 157 vacas mestizas 5/8, 89 Brahman (Br), 29 Holstein (H) y 39 pardo Suizo (PS) x 3/8 indefinido, pertenecientes a un rebaño comercial ubicado en una zona de bosque seco tropical (10º 20’ LN y 72º 19’ LO) con una temperatura media anual de 27 º C y precipitación bi-modal anual de 1200 mm. Los animales fueron agrupados en uno, dos, tres o más partos. Se estudió el efecto de la edad, peso e intervalo entre partos sobre la duración de la lactancia (DL), producción total (PT), producción a los 305d (P305), producción diaria (PD) y producción por día de intervalo entre partos (PIEP). Los datos fueron analizados por el método de los mínimos cuadrados (SAS). Para Br, H y PS con 1, 2 y 3 o más partos se obtuvieron: DL (P<0.05) 246.1 ± 98, 327.1 ± 101, 321.2 ± 111; 231.4 ± 79, 309.5 ± 57, 324.8 ± 57 y 220.7 ± 99, 302.8 ± 86, 312.4 ± 60d. PT (P<0.01) 2011 ± 951, 3007 ± 1219, 3087 ± 1309, 2324 ± 1055, 3806 ± 950, 3516 ± 802 y 2371 ± 1003, 3889 ± 1200, 3506 ± 1068 kg. P305 (P<0.01) 2011 ± 951, 3428 ± 883, 2929 ± 1000; 2324 ± 1055, 3737 ± 474, 3416 ± 641 y 2371 ± 1003, 3812 ± 992, 3416 ± 1004 kg. PD (P<0.01) 8.3 ± 2.0, 11.2 ± 2.6, 9.6 ± 1.9; 9.3 ± 2.0, 12.3 ± 2.0, 11.2 ± 1.8 y 10.1 ± 2.4, 12.5 ± 2.1, 11.2 ± 1.5 kg/día. PIEP (P<0.01) 6.1 ± 1.3, 9.0 ± 1.8, 8.2 ± 1.3; 7.2 ± 1.4, 9.2 ± 1.9, 9.1 ± 1.8 y 7.4 ± 1.9, 9.6 ± 2.4, 9.1 ± 2.1 kg/día de intervalo entre parto, respectivamente. La edad, peso e intervalo entre partos fueron significativas. Las mestizas 5/8 Holstein mostraron un comportamiento superior en todas las variables estudiadas.

The productive behaviour of 157 5/8 crossbred cows: 89 Brahman (Br), 29 Holstein (H) and 39 Brown Swiss (BS) x 3/8 indefined cows was characterized. The cows came from a commercial herd located in a dry tropical forest zone (10º 20’ NL y 72º 19’ WL) with 27º C means temperature with bimodal annual rainfall of 1200 mm. The animals were grouped according to their calving number in 1, 2 and 3 or more. The effect of age, body weight, and calving interval on length of lactation (LL), total milk production (TP), 305d milk production (P305) daily milk production (DP) and milk production per day of calving interval (PCI) were determined. The data was analized by the least square methods (SAS). For Br, H and BS with 1, 2, and 3 calving the results were: LL (P<0.05) 246.1 ± 98, 327.1 ± 101, 321.2 ± 111; 231.4 ± 79, 309.5 ± 57, 324.8 ± 57 and 220.7 ± 99, 302.8 ± 86, 312.4 ± 60d. TP (P<0.01) 2011 ± 951, 3007 ± 1219, 3087 ± 1309, 2324 ± 1055, 3806 ± 950, 3516 ± 802 and 2371 ± 1003, 3889 ± 1200, 3506 ± 1068 kg. P305 (P<0.01) 2011 ± 951, 3428 ± 883, 2929 ± 1000; 2324 ± 1055, 3737 ± 474, 3416 ± 641 and 2371 ± 1003, 3812 ± 992, 3416 ± 1004 kg. DP (P<0.01) 8.3 ± 2.0, 11.2 ± 2.6, 9.6 ± 1.9; 9.3 ± 2.0, 12.3 ± 2.0, 11.2 ± 1.8 and 10.1 ± 2.4, 12.5 ± 2.1, 11.2 ± 1.5 kg/d. PCI (P<0.01) 6.1 ± 1.3, 9.0 ± 1.8, 8.2 ± 1.3; 7.2 ± 1.4, 9.2 ± 1.9, 9.1 ± 1.8 and 7.4 ± 1.9, 9.6 ± 2.4, 9.1 ± 2.1 kg/d, respectively. Age, body weight and calving interval were significant. The 5/8 H crossbred cows had superior performance on all the traits in this study.
