As the demands and the conditions of life havechanged, so too have our conceptions concerning it#Nowhere has this been more noticeable than in thefiaLd of education; particularly in the past century, duringwhich time, our philosophy of education has undergone many radicalchanges. This is especially true about the philosophyof that branch of education which is commonly known as physicaleducation. In speaking of physical education, we do so inthe broadest sense of the term including the inculcation ofhealth habits; the dissemination of knowledge of bodily functions;the development of organic vigor, muscular strength andneuro-muscular coordination through exercise; the teaching andcoaching of sports and games; and the teaching and directionof recreative activities of a physical nature.[...]
