Descripción: Plastic Surgery coalesced as a specialty during time of war when the need for reconstructive surgery was of a pressing magnitude. Empirical rules governing the design, indication, and execution of kin flaps evolved from clinical utilization. These general principles were later transferred to peace time practice and incorporated into the fundamental knowledge of every plastic surgeon. However, recent experimental and clinical evidence would indicate that any of the rules governing skin flaps are open to question.
