| Descripción: | Over sixty years ago the first chemical investigations were reported on waste sulfite liquor from the pulping of wood, but despite a large volume of research in the intervening period, the sulfonation reaction and its products remain an intriguing unsolved problem. The very great complexity of the starting material, plus the susceptibility to chemical change exhibited by the lignin in the wood, have been major obstacles to the acquisition of knowledge in this field. |
