| Descripción: | A watermark in general contains information about the source, prominence, or recipient of the host information. Watermarking has been approximately for several centuries, in the form of watermarks set up in the beginning in plain paper and consequently in paper bills. Watermarking always remains a considerable subject for solving authentication troubles concerning digital multimedia data, in earlier period. An extensive range of watermark based authentication methods have been proposed by a variety of researchers in literature. Watermarking is an extremely dynamic research field with a lot of applications. Even though it is a relatively novel field, it has produced significant algorithms for hiding messages into digital signals and can be explained by numerous different models. On the other hand watermarking methods can be used for authenticating a variety of multimedia data, but for the most part of the work has been done for image and video authentication. Based on the application areas, watermarking can be categorised into different types. In this paper, the fundamental concepts of watermarking systems are outlined and then categorize the various watermarking methods depending on the province in which the hidden data is embedded for images, video, audio, text documents. The requirements for watermarking like Robustness and security aspects are considered. |
