Only a few reactions using compounds possessing active hydrogens on nitrogen have been reported in the literature. The objective of this work was to carry out a systematic study of the Mannich condensation of secondary amines and formaldehyde with compounds containing one or two imino groups in which the hydrogens were activated for this type of reaction by the presence of carbonyl groups.
