La crisis económica no sólo queda definida por el declive productivo -con el incremento del paro y la caída del consumo- sino que sus consecuencias se notan en innumerables aspectos, desde los ligados a la calidad de vida a las mentalidades sociales. Además, no ha afectado por igual a los diferentes territorios: así, ha incrementado la brecha norte-sur a escala estatal y ha incidido gravemente en muchos municipios que vivieron momentos de visible prosperidad en los que hoy se conocen como “felices sesenta”. Partiendo de esas realidades difícilmente contestables, la comunicación pretende analizar las variaciones demográficas producidas durante los primeros años de la crisis en los principales municipios industriales interiores del sur valenciano, áreas de fuerte tradición textil, zapatera y metalúrgica. No sólo se buscará analizar los cambios en las variables demográficas sino comprender cómo éstas se encuentran fuertemente interconectadas generando un proceso –antaño sólo asociado a las áreas rurales- que podríamos denominar “recesión demográfica”. El estudio utilizará las fuentes demográficas básicas –del Padrón a las Variaciones Residenciales- junto con otras complementarias que ayuden a delimitar y matizar los datos ofrecidos por aquellas. Economic crisis cannot be just defined as the productive decline, which doesn’t imply just a higher unemployment rate and drop of consumption, but also a number of consequences that are linked with quality of life or social mentalities. Moreover, this process has not affected in a homogeneous way the different territories. Thus, the existent breach between the north and south of Spain has been enlarged, affecting many municipalities that experienced during the “happy seventies” a prosperous economic phase. Building on the questionable realities above mentioned, the goal of this paper is to analyse the demographic changes happened during the first years of the current crisis. In order to exemplify the consequences on the territory, the most significant industrial municipalities located on the southern inland of the Region of Valencia have been chosen due to their specialisation on shoemaking, textile and metallurgy. The aim is not just to analyse the changes in the demographic variables, but to understand how this variables are strongly interlinked with a process coined as “demographic recession”. This study will use basic demographic sources, as the padrón, the residential variations and other complementary sources that can help us to qualify final data. |
