Descripción: The Tertiary of the Peñarrubia Unit is organized from a stratigraphic point of view into two sedimentary cycles. (The Peñarrubia Tertiary Lower Sedimentary Cycle and The Peñarrubia Tertiary Upper Sedimentary Cycle, respectively). The first one, mainly preorogenic, is divided informally into the Zarzadilla de Totana formation (early middle Eocene-lower Oligocene), at the bottom; and the Bullas formation (lower Oligocene-later Aquitanian), at the top. The second cycle, mainly orogenic, is divided informally into the Manzano formation (later Aquitanian-middle Burdigalian), and the "Caotic Complex" (middle Burdigalian). The whole succession shows a shallowing upwards and a tectonic increase evolution.
Se describe la estratigrafía de la Unidad de la Peñarrubia al sur de Bullas.
