95-107 auraelen@ula.ve; auraelen59@hotmail.com The Venezuelan small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and specifically those located in the State of Merida,
face promoting and development challenges and opportunities, partly due to the existence of regional
arrangements that demand the imminent suitability of their technology platforms, also, the need to adapt to
the ongoing economic and socio-cultural changes. These changes have generated important engagements,
primarily related to accounting information used in management and related to manufacturing processes,
logistics, marketing and innovation. In this context, it is urgent to undertake a study to verify the effectiveness
of the accounting information system for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) registered in the Cultural,
Scientific and Technological Free Zone in the State of Mérida (ZOLCCyT), to be able to respond to the new
circumstances and demands of the environment and the organizational and technological requirements
according to the development projects proposed for this business segment. The methodology used in this
paper, corresponds to a paradigm of a quantitative nature and its level of depth is of analytical type and
field going to the data collection techniques expressed in the survey and documentary observation. One of the
conclusions is that the accounting information system of SMEs operating under the regime ZOLCCyT must
integrate technologies that match the qualification criteria required by this special regime. |
