64-71 fgrios@uas.uasnet.mx Bimestral To determine crossbreeding effect of Japanese quail strains in
the productive traits and on the reproductive performance of
hybrids F1, 60 females and 10 males were utilized of the different
body weight strain: P strain (282.33 g) and L strain (262.45
g), and F1 reciprocal crosses: PL and LP, in egg laying since
week 6th to week 24th old age. At random block design were
utilized, and the orthogonal contrasts to evaluate heterosis and
reciprocal effect. The crossbreeding improved body weight and
egg weight for heterosis effect (P<0.06), and the magnitude not
increased with age, without improved de egg laying rate and
feed efficiency (P>0.10). Not observed consistent reciprocals
effects. Crossbreeding tended to improve reproductive performance
(P 0.08), with heterosis of 4.74% for hatchability
(86.30 vs. 82.40%), 7.85% in fertile eggs (72.37 vs. 67.10%),
12.42% in birth of chick from incubated eggs (62.55 vs.
55.64%), 9.96% for newborn chicks out of total eggs produced
(42.27 vs. 38.44%) and 1.74% for chick weight at birth (9.92
vs. 9.75 g). Its concluded that crossbreeding Japanese quails
strains, different in 20 g of body weight, improved the reproductive
performance via heterosis effects, regardless crossing
order, increased body weight and egg weight for heterosis effect,
without to change the magnitude with the age, without improve
in the rate egg laying and feed efficiency, the order
crossing not affect the productive traits. |
