Fear.
Descripción: While a number of studies have been concerned with the fears of children of various ages, little seems to be known about the objects end situations that are feared by adolescents and young adults. The present study is aimed at gaining some knowledge of the fears of these latter groups in order to get a more complete picture of the changes in fear with age. Relationships of fear to intelligence and personality are also explored. Each of the 85 subjects reported his or her fears in two or more interviews. These data were then treated statistically. Findings show that young women report more fears than adolescent girls, while young men have fewer fears than adolescent boys. Varying types of fears are found to be typical for different age groups. Intelligence is seen to aid in control of fears. The study failed to reveal any relationship between fears and certain selected aspects of personality. A number of hypotheses are advanced to explain these results.
