Descripción: This work is all about two words: distributed innovation; it answers the question: is it possible to work in team projects that aim for making innovative products accepted worldwide and whose members are geographically dispersed?; it gives methods/tools for having an improved performance when organizing and developing internationally distributed projects from the very beginning by suggesting organizational tasks, then to the core part of the project by providing a systematic innovation process plus the knowledge and application of distributed work principles, finally to the outcomes including the educational results as well as the results referring to the products developed. Distributed innovation is a new field in the traditional engineering ways of working and it offers new perspectives for rising a new generation of engineers prepared to deal with the challenges of globalization/internationalization and qualified professionals that are able to handle the difficulties of people working at distance on a common task. The most important concern is that the next generation of engineers has the elements and the experience to elaborate awesome products in different engineering areas through the work in "virtual tables" of international members and with the richness and advantages of the cultural interchange. This thesis aims to make contributions (with interesting ideas and a real case) to the emerging area of distributed innovation and to help future engineers to learn from the past experience achieving better results at anytime.
