Descripción: En la universidad, la producción de escritos por los estudiantes para organizar y comunicar las representaciones sobre el conocimiento, elaboradas a partir del estudio de las ideas de autores previamente leídos (Arnoux, Di Stefano y Pereira, 2002) es una tarea que requiere acompañamiento y práctica constantes. Esta investigación analiza el proceso que realizan estudiantes universitarios al leer críticamente textos académicos para aprender y escribir, identificar intencionalidades, confrontar posiciones y producir escritos argumentativos en los que construyen su propia postura frente al saber. El estudio cualitativo de tipo interpretativo, se llevó a cabo con estudiantes de Lengua y Comunicación cursantes del primer semestre (A-2011) de la carrera de formación docente en Ciencias Físico-Naturales en una universidad venezolana. Se tomó el registro sistemático de prácticas de lectura crítica y escritura argumentativa, las cuales se objetivan en registros de campo y producciones escritas. Los resultados evidencian que orientar a los estudiantes a leer críticamente y a construir puntos de vista sobre temas disciplinares puede contribuir a la construcción y reelaboración del conocimiento. In college, the production of writings by students to organize and communicate the representations of knowledge, drawn from the study of the ideas of authors previously read (Arnoux, Di Stefano and Pereira, 2002), is a task that requires support and constant practice. This research analyzes the process of college students to perform reading academic texts critically to learn and write, identify intentions, confront and produce written argumentative positions in which they build their own stance towards knowledge. The interpretive qualitative study type was carried out with students of Language and Communication (semester A-2011) of the career of teacher training in Physical and Natural Sciences. The systematic recording of critical reading practices and argumentative writing, was taken from objectified field records and written productions. The results show that guide students to read critically and build views on disciplinary issues can contribute to the construction and elaboration of knowledge.
