Descripción: The high voltage electric power is generally transmitted by underground cable in urban, considering about the high cost for underground cable, it is necessary for us to get accurately biggest ampacity of cables in order to ensure the operation of cables in safe. The Cross linked polyethylene (XLPE) insulated power cables are used for transmission and distribution of electrical power for higher voltage level. In this paper a three phase high voltage power cable buried in soil and it can be used to investigate electrical and thermal properties of cable. An underground cable of 132kV electric field, voltage distribution using finite element method (FEM), analytical method for calculating ampacity of cable and temperature distribution is presented and verified same by using COMSOL multiphysics software.
