Descripción: Ultrasonic technique is of paramount importance in residual stress measurement. The technique has many advantages than other residual stress measurement techniques. However, precision and determining acoustoelastic constants are main difficulties that are encountered. Based on the principle that source of the welding residual stress is welding heat, relation between thermal stress and ultrasonic wave velocity variations are investigated. By using their relation, a new attempt on determining welding residual stress is developed.
