Descripción: Summary
The provisional methodology, developed in FAO, for soil degradation assessment is based on the recognition of six groups of soil degradation processes and a number of factors. The value of the resultant soil degradation process is estimated. The document details the tools and the use of the methodology at different scales. Two type of assessments are made : for the present degradation, and for the degradation risk. Illustration of the methodology is given by the 1:5 000 000 assessment and mapping of Africa north of the Equator and the Middle East
