Descripción: A comparative study of the flavonoid chromatographic profiles and of the fatty acid composition of the seed oil was carried out in four species belonging to three different groups in the genus Caesalpinia. Both determinations (statiscally analyzed) gave concurrent results and the dendrograms obtained showed a closer relationship between Caesalpinia velutina Britton et Rose and C. platyloba S. Watson, from the Brasilettia group, than between these two species and C. cacalaco Humboldt et Bonpland (Russellodendron group) and C. hintonii Sandwith (Poincianella group).
