Descripción: | Monthwise and depthwise variations of different groups of demersal fishesencountered in the trawl catches off Malpe region are presented. Froni the datacollected simultaneously on oceanographic parameters and trawl catches an attemptmade to find out the relationship between the environmental factors and demersalfisheries. A positive correlation was observed between bottom water temperatureand trawl catch, while the low oxygen content recorded during certain months,as a result of upwelling along this part of the coast, was found to be one of thefactors responsible for the decrease in trawl catch. |
