Descripción: Experiments were conducted in six ponds of 0.04 ha each during June-July,1996 at CIFA fish farm to evaluate the efficacy of meat meal based diet againstfish meal based diet along with a control on growth and survival of rohu fryduring nusery reaiing. The ponds were stocked at a density of 5 million spawn/ha and reared for a period of 15 days. The results demonstrated no significantdifference (P > 0.05) in growth (25.0 mm/165.1 mg and 23.75 mm/ 138.6 mg)and survival (57.4 and 53.2 %) in fish and meat meal based diets, showingthe possibility of substitution offish meal with meat meal for carp seed rearing. The other important factors like feed conversion ratio (FCR) and specificgrowth rate (SGR) also showed no marked difference in their values betweenthe treatment groups provided with two experimental diets
