The intention of this reflection on the formation and self-formation of the first librarians in the State of Santa Catarina is to recognise the professional activities developed by these professionals as Library Science. The methodology adopted was the technique of life history based on the general context of Oral History. Seven professional reports were taken. These show that the librarians give significant importance to technical questions; situations related to the users and a positive professional attitude. The study concludes that this type of investigation can aid to understood better the socio-cultural role of this profession – the empirical material collected is a source for learning and teaching how to be a librarian in a given society. Produziu-se uma reflexão da formação e auto-formação dos primeiros bibliotecários de Santa Catarina, com intuito de (re)conhecer uma Biblioteconomia construída por estes profissionais. A metodologia utilizada foi a técnica de história de vida a partir do quadro geral da História Oral. São sete relatos profissionais. Estes mostraram que esses bibliotecários têm significativamente presente as questões técnicas; situações relacionadas aos usuários e um sentimento profissional positivo. O estudo concluiu que esse tipo de investigação pode melhorar o entendimento do papel sóciocultural desta profissão - o material recolhido é uma fonte para aprender e ensinar a ser bibliotecário para uma sociedade. |
