Este estudo objetivou caracterizar as representações sociais
dos usuários portadores do HIV sobre a AIDS e identificar
as relações existentes entre essas representações e o
modo de enfrentar o adoecimento. O estudo foi realizado
empregando a metodologia qualitativa e, como referencial
teórico, a teoria das representações sociais. O cenário do
estudo foi o Serviço de Atendimento Especializado em
DST/AIDS localizado na cidade de São Paulo. Na coleta
dos dados, utilizou-se a entrevista semi-estruturada e para
análise buscou-se identificar os enunciados significativos
em cada fala dos sujeitos participantes do estudo. Os resultados
do estudo mostram que a AIDS continua suscitando
representações neste universo pesquisado como uma
situação que causa desarranjos na vida cotidiana, na medida
em que ela ainda permite emergir sentimentos como:
preconceito, discriminação, exclusão, o que torna o medo
da solidão presente na vida cotidiana desses portadores do
vírus, que vivenciam a situação de serem soropositivos. Os
portadores do vírus trazem uma nova representação sobre a
(re)significação do vírus, na qual sua presença agora não traz
a emergência da morte. Essa nova (re)significação os coloca
diante da possibilidade de se cuidarem e de se manterem
na invisibilidade de serem portadores do HIV. This study’s objective was to characterize the social representations of clients with HIV with respect to AIDS and to identify the relationships existing between these representations and the way they face becoming sick. The study used qualitative methodology, and as a theoretical reference, the theory of social representation. The study environment was the DST/AIDS Specialty Clinic located in the city of São Paulo. For data collection, a semi-structured interview process was used, and in the analysis an attempt was made to identify the significant statements in the conversations of each taking part in the study. The results of the study show that AIDS continues arousing representations in the world of those being researched as a situation that causes disarrays in daily life to the extent that it permits the emergence of feelings such as: prejudice, discrimination, exclusion, creating the fear of loneliness in the daily life of these people experiencing the situation of being seropositive. The virus carriers bring a new representation to (re)meaning of the virus in which its presence does not now evoke death. This new (re)meaning, offers them the possibility of taking care of themselves and of maintaining themselves invisible as carriers of HIV. |
