Descripción: Previous research indicates a high level of multiple job holding amongst New Zealand farm men and women. Interviews of sixty farm men and women holding multiple jobs in the Ashburton District in 2003 were part of a larger research programme. Respondents identified a wide range of work undertaken in addition to farm work. They are tending to hold these jobs longer term, showing multiple job holding amongst is established as a feature of farm households. Reasons for holding multiple jobs are complex, with a range of social and economic benefits identified. Although there are effects on work-life balance.
