Descripción: El objetivo del trabajo es mostrar que al usar el promedio muestral para estimar la vida media de Ranitidina, es posible introducir sesgos en los estudios farmacocinéticos si hay datos atípicos entre los de la muestra en estudio. La media muestral es el estimador óptimo bajo la suposición de normalidad. Esto equivale a decir que los casos alejados de la media tienen poca probabilidad de aparecer (distribución con forma de campana). Pero es también muy sensible a esta hipótesis de normalidad. Un pequeño apartamiento del modelo, como la presencia de un dato atípico, puede hacer aumentar desmedidamente su varianza y en tal caso el promedio de los datos muestrales no representa ni al dato atípico ni a la muestra excluyendo el outlier
The aim of the present work is to show how using the sample mean to estimate half-life of Ranitidina makes it possible to introduce biases in the pharmacokinetical studies whenever there are outliers in the sample data. The sample mean is the most efficient estimator when the distribution is normal. This means that those cases which are far from the media have less probability to appear (Gausse's distribution). It is also sensitive to slight changes in the assumptions of the model. The presence of an outlier can make it's variance increase a lot and in that case the sample mean does not represent neither the outlier nor the sample without the outlier.
